Checked against the official pages on 22 October 2026. How we check.
Bangladesh has four career offices for its citizens and visitors in the United States: the consular wing of the Embassy in Washington and the consulates general in New York, Los Angeles and Miami.
The Embassy’s list also names two honorary consuls, in New Orleans and Hawaii, without listing services for them.
The districts are published: each consulate general covers eight states, and the rest go to the Embassy, with the District and the five territories.
So Texas, Illinois, Alaska and Hawaii are Washington’s, even where another office is closer. New York’s website leaves Miami out of its list: see the Florida page.
The procedure searched most is the Bangladeshi e-passport: an online form, then a biometric visit in person, with a 10% welfare fund added to the national fee. Next come birth registration and the visa, which people of Bangladeshi origin replace with the NVR stamp.
Since 30 March 2025 the Apostille Convention has applied between the U.S. and Bangladesh, while the consular pages still describe their own attestation; our apostille guide sets out both. The dual nationality certificate is now applied for online, straight to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Two traps: Google Maps keeps two listings for the New York consulate in Manhattan, while the consulate has been in Long Island City since 1 October 2024; and the Embassy’s old website, bdembassyusa.org, now belongs to a gambling site.
The four career offices receive people differently, from portal slots to first come, first served: how each office takes requests sets them side by side, and fees and requirements has each office’s own fees and payment rules.
Every fact here comes from an official page saved on the day it was read, and where two official pages disagree the site shows both: how we check explains the method.

Where the Bangladeshi offices are
Here are all the Bangladeshi consulates in the United States
The Embassy is in the grid because its consular wing handles passports, the NVR and visas, as a consulate does. The two honorary consuls are there too, with what the Embassy’s list says about them.
Other cities
Most American cities have no Bangladeshi office. These have a page of their own: which office the Embassy’s list gives them, how far away it is, which office is closer in a straight line, where the U.S. birth and marriage papers come from in that state, and what can be done without going.
