Bangladesh police clearance certificate from the USA: the online portal and the attested passport copy

Police clearance
The Bangladesh police clearance certificate is issued by the Bangladesh Police through its online system, pcc.police.gov.bd. A Bangladeshi passport holder living abroad uploads a copy of the passport’s data page attested by the Bangladeshi embassy of the country where they live. The fee is 1,500 taka.

Checked against the official pages on 22 October 2026. How we check.

The portal lists the conditions in Bengali. Anyone can register and apply for themselves or on behalf of someone else; the police verification takes place at the address in Bangladesh you give, so the present address in the form is one of the addresses in your passport (PCC portal, in Bengali).

What the portal asks for

  • the online application, filled out;
  • for a Bangladeshi citizen living abroad, a scan of the passport’s data page attested by the Bangladeshi embassy in that country;
  • for a foreign citizen, a scan attested by a justice of the peace of their own country;
  • the fee: a treasury challan from Bangladesh Bank or Sonali Bank, or payment online by card with a service charge;
  • an authorization letter, attested, naming the person who will collect the certificate in Bangladesh, with that person’s NID number.

The steps and documents are the portal’s own (PCC portal, in Bengali). The passport needs at least three months of validity left.

Step Where
Register and apply pcc.police.gov.bd

Pay Treasury challan or card online
Collect Your representative in Bangladesh

The six steps on the portal

  • register on the portal, for yourself or on behalf of someone else;
  • log in and open the Apply menu;
  • enter your personal details, then your present and permanent addresses; the police check runs at the present address in Bangladesh;
  • upload the scanned documents;
  • review everything: after you submit, nothing can be changed;
  • pay the fee and follow the instructions that come with the payment.

The steps are the portal’s own. To collect the certificate in Bangladesh, your representative brings a copy of your passport or of the application and the authorization letter, attested by the embassy or by a justice of the peace (PCC portal, in Bengali).

Police clearance, step by step

The consular step

The attested passport copy is the part that involves a Bangladeshi office here. The offices publish attestation of documents among their services; see apostille and attestation for the fees each one charges.

The portal sends status updates by SMS when you text PCC S and your reference number to 26969 from any phone.

A foreign citizen who lived in Bangladesh

The same portal issues clearance to foreigners who lived in Bangladesh, with a passport copy attested by a justice of the peace of their country (PCC portal, in Bengali).

Using the certificate in the U.S.

Ask the U.S. office that wants it whether it needs a translation or a further stamp.

Before you apply
  • A Bangladeshi passport with at least three months left
  • Its data page, attested by a Bangladeshi office
  • A representative in Bangladesh, with an attested authorization letter
  • The fee, by challan or card
 Get the passport copy attested before you start the form: the portal will not take a plain scan from someone abroad.
