Your consulate at a glance
How far the consulate is from your city
Driving distances to the consulate that covers each city, calculated at posted speed limits and without traffic:
| City | Consulate | Distance | Journey |
|---|---|---|---|
| Huntsville | Washington, D.C. | 697 miles | 12 h 59 min by car |
| Birmingham | Washington, D.C. | 742 miles | 13 h 41 min by car |
| Montgomery | Washington, D.C. | 800 miles | 15 h 8 min by car |
| Mobile | Washington, D.C. | 967 miles | 18 h 9 min by car |
From Mobile that is 18 h 9 min by car each way, which makes it worth checking the consular outreach schedule before committing to the drive: missions bring passport and dual citizenship services to cities without a consulate, and the appointments are free.
Three procedures that never reach a counter
Three of the most searched Philippine procedures in the United States are not consular procedures at all, and knowing that is worth more than knowing the opening hours:
The short version: PSA certificates are ordered online from Manila, apostilles on documents issued in Alabama come from the state's own competent authority, since 15 May 2019 the consulate cannot authenticate them, and the NBI clearance travels by mail; its fingerprints can be taken at a consulate or at a police station, according to the NBI.
Set against that, two things cannot be delegated or posted: passport biometrics and the RA 9225 oath. A notarial document can go either way, signed at the consulate or before a local notary with an apostille, according to the notarial page of the Chicago consulate.
By road, Huntsville is 697 miles from the consular section and Mobile 967, so the Embassy's outreach missions are worth tracking: its site has announced missions in Jacksonville, Florida, and in Raleigh, North Carolina.
