Bangladesh consulate for the U.S. Virgin Islands

Checked against the official pages on 22 October 2026. How we check.

The U.S. Virgin Islands are one of the five territories that the Embassy’s passport page sends to Washington. The trip is a flight, and Miami, closer in a straight line, is not the islands’ office.

Which Bangladesh consulate serves the U.S. Virgin Islands?

The U.S. Virgin Islands is one of the five U.S. territories that the Embassy’s passport page names among the places that apply to Washington (source). The three consulates general cover eight states each and no territory.

Cities in the U.S. Virgin Islands and their Bangladesh office

City Getting there
Charlotte Amalie by air
Christiansted by air

Neither of the two places listed for the U.S. Virgin Islands has a road link to its Bangladeshi office: an in-person visit means flying.

In a straight line, the Bangladesh Consulate General in Miami is closer than the Embassy’s consular wing in Washington to both cities this site lists in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Distance does not decide the office: the published list does.

Birth and marriage records in the U.S. Virgin Islands for a Bangladeshi office

In the U.S. Virgin Islands, the CDC’s directory sends birth certificate requests to the Department of Health’s Vital Statistics office at Charles Harwood Memorial Hospital, in St. Croix, at St. Croix, VI 00820, for $15.00 a certified copy (CDC, Where to Write for Vital Records).

Its note on those records reads: “Registrar has birth records on file since 1840”.

For a marriage registered in the U.S. Virgin Islands, the directory sends requests to “Territorial Court of the Virgin Islands” (CDC, Where to Write for Vital Records).

A paper issued in the U.S. Virgin Islands can now go to Bangladesh with an apostille from the state: the Convention has applied between the two countries since 30 March 2025 (HCCH status table). The Bangladeshi offices here still publish the older attestation steps.

For state documents the competent authority is generally the Secretary of State’s office (HCCH).

What you can settle without going to the consulate

Several steps are handled without a visit.

  • You can mail an NVR application with a prepaid USPS return envelope: No Visa Required (NVR).
  • You can mail the J-1 waiver application with two USPS return envelopes: J-1 waiver NOC.
  • You can apply for the police clearance certificate online at pcc.police.gov.bd: Police clearance.

A U.S. citizen of Bangladeshi origin travels on the NVR stamp rather than a visa; the Embassy and the three consulates general charge the same $88 for it.

Not an official website. We collect what the Bangladeshi offices publish, including the places where their own pages disagree, and point you back to the source.
