Arizona

Arizona belongs to the Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles, and it is the only entire state in that consulate's jurisdiction, everything else Los Angeles covers is part of a state, split off by county. The state has its own honorary consulate, in Chandler, in the south-eastern Phoenix metro.

How far the consulate is from your city

Driving distances to the consulate that covers each city, calculated at posted speed limits and without traffic:

City Consulate Distance Journey
Phoenix Los Angeles 377 miles 6 h 50 min by car
Mesa Los Angeles 393 miles 7 h 11 min by car
Chandler Los Angeles 399 miles 7 h 18 min by car
Tucson Los Angeles 490 miles 8 h 48 min by car

From Tucson that is 8 h 48 min by car each way, which makes it worth checking the consular outreach schedule before committing to the drive: missions bring passport and dual citizenship services to cities without a consulate, and the appointments are free.

What you do not need a consulate for

A large share of the trips people make to a Philippine consulate were never necessary. These three are handled entirely elsewhere:

The short version: PSA certificates are ordered online from Manila, apostilles on documents issued in Arizona come from the state's own competent authority, since 15 May 2019 the consulate cannot authenticate them, and the NBI clearance travels by mail; its fingerprints can be taken at a consulate or at a police station, according to the NBI.

What does require you in person is your biometrics for a passport and the oath of allegiance. A special power of attorney can be signed at the consulate or before a local notary and then apostilled, according to the notarial page of the Chicago consulate.

By road, Phoenix is 377 miles from the Los Angeles consulate (6 h 50 min at posted speed limits). The Arizona honorary consulate uses an official dfa.gov.ph email address, [email protected].
