How far the consulate is from your city

Driving distances to the consulate that covers each city, calculated at posted speed limits and without traffic:

City Consulate Distance Journey
Kailua Honolulu 13 miles 28 min by car
Kaneohe Honolulu 13 miles 28 min by car
Pearl City Honolulu 13 miles 24 min by car
Waipahu Honolulu 16 miles 29 min by car
Hilo Honolulu no road route by air

There is no road to the consulate from Hilo. The journey is a flight, which is worth weighing against what the trip is actually for, several of the most searched Philippine procedures need no consular visit at all.

What can be done without leaving home

The most frequent wasted journey in this system is for a document the consulate cannot produce. There are three of them:

The short version: PSA certificates are ordered online from Manila, apostilles on documents issued in Hawaii come from the state's own competent authority, since 15 May 2019 the consulate cannot authenticate them, and the NBI clearance travels by mail; its fingerprints can be taken at a consulate or at a police station, according to the NBI.

The procedures that genuinely need you at a window are the ones where a consular officer has to watch you do something: give fingerprints for a passport or swear the oath of allegiance. A power of attorney is different: a local notary plus an apostille also works, according to the notarial page of the Chicago consulate.

Everything outside Oʻahu arrives by air. Before booking an inter-island flight, check whether your procedure needs a consular officer at all: biometrics and signatures do, civil documents ordered from Manila do not.

We check the details regularly, but they can change without notice, always confirm with the consulate before you travel.
