Philippine Consulate in Dayton, OH
Dayton does not have its own Philippine consulate. It is served by the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, 291 miles away, about 5 h 41 min by road, and every appointment, passport and notarial act for Dayton residents happens there.
Where Dayton is served from
Every Philippine procedure for a Ohio resident goes through Chicago: its district is Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Distances from the other cities in the state are on the Ohio page.
5 h 41 min each way, 291 miles: from Dayton this is an appointment you build a day around. It rewards preparation more than punctuality.
A local official Philippine contact is the honorary consulate in Cleveland, which the consulate in Chicago supervises. For a passport or dual citizenship, the booking is with Chicago.
Three procedures that skip the consulate entirely
The most common wasted journey in this system is for a document the consulate cannot produce. There are three of them:
- PSA certificates, birth, marriage, death and CENOMAR are issued in Manila and ordered online, delivered to any US address.
- Documents signed by a US notary or issued by a US authority need a state apostille, not a consular stamp. The consulate has no role in that chain.
- The NBI clearance is issued in the Philippines. The fingerprint card can be done at a consulate or, the NBI says, at the nearest police station.
What does require appearing in person is your biometrics for a passport and the oath of allegiance. A special power of attorney can be signed before a consular officer or before a local notary and then apostilled, according to the notarial page of the Chicago consulate.
philippineconsulates.us is an independent information guide to the Philippine consulates in the United States. We are not the Philippine Consulate General, the Philippine Embassy or any government agency. We do not book, sell or manage appointments: every consulate runs its own system. We check the details regularly, but they can change without notice, always confirm with the consulate before you travel.
