Philippine Consulate in Columbus, GA
There is no Philippine consulate in Columbus, and the consulate that covers it, the Embassy of the Philippines. Consular Section in Washington, D.C., is not a casual trip: 747 miles away, about 14 h 12 min by road. That makes the order of this page deliberate: first what you can do from Columbus without travelling, then what genuinely requires the counter.
Which Philippine consulate serves Columbus
The assignment is by state: the whole of Georgia belongs to the consulate in Washington, D.C., whose district covers Alabama, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia, plus Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and most of the Caribbean. The detail, including how far each city in the state is from the consulate, is on the Georgia page.
747 miles between Columbus and its consulate is the kind of distance that decides behaviour: people postpone, documents expire, and then the trip becomes urgent. Doing the paperwork early is worth more here than anywhere.
Watch for consular outreach missions before committing to the full journey. Consulates travel to underserved cities with passport biometrics and dual citizenship ceremonies; the appointments cost nothing, and for somewhere this far from the consulate a mission is usually the practical route. How they are booked is in the appointment guide.
What never requires the journey
Check this list first, it covers most of the reasons people book an appointment they did not need:
- PSA certificates: the Philippine Statistics Authority prints them, not the consulate. You order them on the web and they arrive by courier.
- Apostilles: if anyone tells you to get a document "red ribboned" at the consulate, that advice predates 2019 and no longer works.
- The NBI clearance is issued in the Philippines. The fingerprint card can be done at a consulate or, the NBI says, at the nearest police station.
The counter is unavoidable for passport biometrics and the RA 9225 oath. A notarial document can also be done by a local notary with an apostille, according to the notarial page of the Chicago consulate. Everything else deserves a second look before you drive.
philippineconsulates.us is an independent information guide to the Philippine consulates in the United States. We are not the Philippine Consulate General, the Philippine Embassy or any government agency. We do not book, sell or manage appointments: every consulate runs its own system. We check the details regularly, but they can change without notice, always confirm with the consulate before you travel.
